Hi. Do you like the new Selmer logo (the famous "S" of saxophones ) or the traditional logo (with the whole word Selmer)?

I tried the new privilèdge and is an awesome clarinet. Valentino Master Pads with the metallic piece (resonator).

I'm not really a fan of the design of the older Selmer, I'm not into the gold.
I really like this sleek design with the S (what did you mean when you said for saxophones?, I'm sure the S is for Selmer) and engraved bottom E cup and thr black engraved rings.
To me, it looks almost similar to the Divine.

I think that "S" design first showed up on the "Super Action 80," which was supposed to make us forget about the great Series 6 saxophone.
I don't really care too much about what Selmer does with the aesthetics as long as they didn't screw up what was a phenomenal horn. I am a bit put off by the loss of the oversized "comfort" octave key (like the Rossi clarinets have), and the leather pads (which though more European in 'desirability' where a less controversial choice). All the previous Privileges I tried sounded WONDERFUL ....... this is all I ask.

The 'S' logo first appeared on the crook keys on MkVI altos and tenors which were stamped from a single piece of sheet metal (instead of being made from four separate pieces) and had the 'S' logo stamped into them.

I agree too much gold on the old Privilege, but the new design is ugly. Too many manufacturers seem to feel the need for acoustically irrelevant additions that just detract from the basic beauty of the instrument. For similar reasons, I detest the pointless diagonal bar of metal on the top of the Tosca. Give me the understated simplicity and elegance of the Yamaha CSG, where the logo is engraved in the wood, but not enhanced in any way. Less is more.

And with Buffets, there's a gaping hole left in the top joint when the logo drops out.
