Here in Australia and several other English speaking places , what the 'Americans' call trucks are Utes (Utility Vehicle) Trucks to us are usually those whopping big rigs with at least two to three sets of bogies at the rear. Used for large scale haulage from Super Market supplies to construction material ect. But yes, Utes are renowned for handling badly, especially by inexperienced drivers. Always so tragic to see young lives cut short like that.

I've driven the highway between Marlin and Kosse many times. It's not an overly hazardous roadway, but anything can happen. Prayers for the survivors and families.
