One simple way to solve the tenon length problem is to sand down the end about 1.5 mm using 400 and then 600 grade wet/dry sand paper on a flat surface which takes about 10 to 15 minutes. The resulting pitch changes from about 440 to 442 which I find preferable as it gives me more leeway for different venues. The quality of the sound and intonation are not altered. I find the M30D a superb mouthpiece. I agree with Vandoren in their recommendation to use with 56 Rue Lepic reeds. I use 3.5 strength. With the Ridenour ATG system I can easily get 8 excellent reeds out of a box of ten.
