I have a stock Buffet mouthpiece and have decided to upgrade. I'm really not to familiar with what's out there and where good professional quality mouthpieces can be purchased. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

This has been a popular subject. I suggest you do a search. You'll come up with lots of reading material. There are some good mouthpiece sources right here on Sneezy. You can look them up under Sponsors and Resources. (As I get back to doing my taxes...yes, I procrastinate!)

There are many good mouthpieces out there. My setup consists of a Gregory Smith (facing 1) mothpiece, Bonade / Rovner lig, Vandoren V12 #4 reed, and a Moennig 65 / 66 barrel. You should try mouthpieces with facings that work for your reed. (Thicker reed = closed facing Thinner reed = open facing). I hope you find what you're looking for!

I'd rather suggest to change your Buffet stock mouthpiece to any mouthpiece made by a mouthpiece manufacturer as early as possible.
Among clarinet manufacturers, only Selmer has mouthpiece making specialty, from whom people would purchase mouthpieces separately. IMHO.

I use a vandoren 5RV. I have tried the 4RV/13 and the B45 but the 5RV is my favorite. I use an optimum ligature w/ V-12 #3 reeds. That is what I suggest to all of my students.

Depending upon how much you have to spend, there are lots of variables out there. If you have about $160.00 to spend, go to www.wwandbw.com and get a Clark Fobes Kaspar model. I recommend the 2* that is like the Kaspar Cicero 13. It's the nearest thing to a genuine Kaspar on the market. You'll love it.
If you have between $60.00 to $100.00 you can get a good buy on a Vandoren M13Lyre (excellent with Buffet clarinets) or another of Vandoren's line.
If you have between $25.00 to $60.00 you'll be more limited, but you might look on eBay and find some good mouthpieces that are used but in good condition. Check out the seller's feedback and don't buy from someone with no rating unless you have contacted them and feel really good about doing business with them.
Look at the Sneezy classifieds. There are some good buys on mouthpieces on the board.
