Does anyone know the upper joint tenon, lower joint (bell) tenon, diameter & depth for a Buffet E11 Clarinet. I also need the tenon measure for a Vandoren 5RVL mouthpiece. I was wondering because I'm looking at a new Backun barrel and bell but I need the measurements to be right because I'm ordering from eBay. I would measure myself except I have no ruler or tape measure that uses mm.
I am currently looking at two different barrels and one bell. The barrel dimensions are:
Fatboy Cocobolo 66mm:
Mouthpiece Tenon Width is: 22.50 mm, Depth is: 17.38 mm
Upper Joint Tenon Width is: 23.80 mm, Depth is: 18.95 mm
Ringless Cocobolo 66mm:
Mouthpiece Tenon Width is: 22.15 mm, Depth is: 17.22 mm
Upper Joint Tenon Width is: 23.56 mm, Depth is: 18.40 mm
The bell dimensions are:
Backun Traditional Bell Cocobolo 109mm:
Tenon Width of: 26.60 mm
Tenon Depth of: 20.12 mm
Will these fit my E11? What do you think about each?

French made E-11's are a different animal than the German made ones.
The French made ones have much *larger* tenons on all except the top of the barrel where the Mouthpiece goes.
Unfortunately!!!!
Upgrading that %%#** is a measurement chore! or almost an impossibility.

Have you tried taking it to a tech? That's how I got my measurement for a backun eefer barrel.

It is a German E11 serial 652140. Unfortunately I can't take it to a tech because I am out of town where there is not a tech nearby and this auction ends in four days.

I happen to have a German E11 I here now. It's relatively old and I don't know if tenon dimensions were changed throughout the years.
I measured to the closest 0.05mm which should be accurate enough.
Upper joint top tenon diameter (at inner end): 23.40mm
Upper joint top tenon length: 18.70mm
Lower joint tenon diaemter (at inner end): 26.60mm
Lower joint tenon length: 19.95mm

Assuming that these measurements are the same on my clarinet will either of the barrels fit as they are .16/.4MM to big and .25mm to long/.3mm to small? Will the tenon gradually expand to fit these?

How much do the Backun barrel and bell cost? They look really good, but would you get a better return for your money (tonewise) by selling the E11 and using the extra cash to upgrade to an R13?

The Fatboy is currently at $61 and the ringless barrel is $25. The bel is $60. Even if I sold the E11 I would on get maybe $500. I only have about $185 now. I don't know of any R13 that costs $685. Besides I really dont want to sell it, just upgrade it a bit. I actually don't think the R13 would have better tone than the E11 with the fatboy and the bell but that's subjective. Does anyone have any of these products that can vouch for them? Will the tenons fit?

I have a moba barrel and a Backun classic bell. Both fit a bit loose on all 3 clarinets I have put them on. I just use a bit of tape to make them fit better.

Wont tape change the sound? Could I fit synthetic corks to make them fit? I have heard that buffet clarinets have tapered tenons and thats why synthetic corks were fitted to the new Divine clarinet. Does anyone know where I can buy these corks?

Just saw a listing for another fatboy this one is a 66+ in cocobolo.
measurements are:
Mouthpiece Tenon Width is: 22.42 mm, Depth is: 17.10 mm
Upper Joint Tenon Width is: 23.71 mm, Depth is: 18.37 mm
Still need to know whether this will fit my E11 and 5RV, and if not what can I do to fix it?
