On that Auction Site they are selling silver colored metal clarinets made from "Cupronickel", which is an alloy made from copper and nickel and used for piping, marine hardware and small coins (quarters and dimes). Retail about $500. Has anyone had any experience with this clarinet?
Reason I ask is I love the look of a silver clarinet, own one, and wonder how these sound?

The Silver King we have sounds great just like any other good clarinet.
Not sure about that specific one; there isn't much expectation for stuff coming from China

Gee, what's next from China...D-flat flutes? They're already making C-melody saxes and now metal clarinets with cheap single-wall bells...
Seriously, for $500 one could pick up a good fixer-upper professional metal from Bettoney, Buescher, Conn, King, Noblet, etc., and have it overhauled to your specification.

Yamaha 200 series flutes and 300 series flute bodies are made from cupronickel which is very hard and grey in colour compared to nickel silver which is more yellow (but not as yellow as brass) in colour. Their keywork on woodwinds is also made from cupronickel.
Keilwerth and some other sax makers offer nickel silver bodied saxes and horns are also offered in nickel silver. So no reason why metal clarinets can't also be made of it as long as they're made well and play well in tune.

As far as I know the majority of metal „woodwinds“ is made from nickel silver, often silver- or nickel plated, if not, like top of the range instruments, massive sterling silver or (see Emmanuel Pahud) gold. Double- walled bells are not very common, even with quality metal clarinets: The bell of a Buescher True Tone is single walled as well as H.N.White Silver King’s sterling silver bell, at least from the earlier years.
