I was told by a local Instrument Repair Person that the Hite Premier MP was based on a Vandoren MP.
Any truth to this?
And if so what model?
Ive got a Hite Premier MP and have no complaints with it

Don't know specifically about the Premiere, but David Hite was a master mouthpiece maker and didn't really need to copy anything per se.

To add to what Paul said, I seem to remember reading on the Hite website when David Hite was still alive, that the Premier was modeled on one of his professional models -- the D model if I remember correctly. Whether that model bears any relationship to a Vandoren model from the time, I don't know but I highly doubt it.
Best regards,

I would guess it more likely that it was inspired by a Chedeville.

Based on a conversation I had with Hite many years ago.

if you're looking for B45-based copy Jewel 45 is the closest knock off currently made.
