I bought a vintage grenadilla clarinet with the mfgr. Name worn off. The serial no. Is
947186. It came in a fairly new buffet crampon & CIE case if that could be a clue.
Its very nice so it deserves an identity. Thanks so much. Frank

Not sure if it's vintage with that serial number, but it sounds like a more recent E11 which have printed on logos that wear out.
Either that or an older Selmer Signet as they too had the logos in the form of a stuck on transfer which wore off.
A photo or several detailed photos will reveal what it is.

That'll be an E11 - made by Schreiber for Buffet.
