 Jeanjean 16 binding

I just received my copy of the Jeanjean 16 moderne studies from Eble and the staples are too small! The middle page has come loose and the others will soon follow. How do I know this? Because it happened with the other copy of the same book I bought earlier this year.

Has anyone else run into this problem? Is Jeanjean trying to tell me I will come "unglued" working on his difficult etudes? :)

[BTW my copy of the Nielsen concerto part fits together fine.]

Speaking of Eble, word came today that they are being taken over by Chester Groth Music right here in Bloomington Minnesota! (82nd and Nicollet for those twin citians who don't know where it is)

Not sure where Groth is going to put it all. Maybe they could find an old abandoned Rainbow Foods somewhere! :) [inside joke]

And that's an entirely different issue from books that will not stay open on a stand, or pages that flip on their own. I decided years ago that (for piano and organ) I would remove all pages from all books, and put them in individual sheet protectors in a binder. Costco carries big boxes of these and they work way better and are way cheaper than same products 10-20 years ago (in case anybody gave up on them previously). I've done entire musicals this way.

Rather than sleeve an entire book, why not take just the pages you need, and have a neat binder of exactly what you're playing- in the order you want it? I do this every Sunday for hymns and praise choruses.

But you do have to stay organized, and put things back in place when you're no longer using them. Incomplete books are awful. Although it sounds like yours want to be that way anyway (losing pages out of the middle).

Stan - love the idea (and Costco getting them in bulk).

That will work well for some Opera's I play.

David- glad to help. Warning, you do this once and forevermore it will bug the tar out of you to use a book (especially if it's uncooperative) or loose pages.

Seriously, the only downside I've found is- depending on the lighting, you might be fighting some reflections. And this is even with sleeves that are supposed to be nonreflective. I deal with it, but sometimes have to adjust the tilt of my stand.

It's either that, or go all digital.

I did get a gigantic scanner that scans 11.5 x 16

Mustek for under $200!

Combined with the music software and Ipad control it works wonderfully also.
