 "Obligatory repertoire"
Author: eduardo94

I researched about some repertoire that big teachers say you "need to study".
Like the Mozart Concerto, Weber Concertos, Brahms Sonatas and Debussy Rhapsody. I studied all that pieces and more. I am looking for more pieces now, for clarinet and piano.
What do you think are the "must study" pieces for clarinete and piano?

"Need to study" is an interesting way to put it. From where I sit there is not a HUGE repertoire for clarinet that is really worth playing or listening to (compared to that for solo piano, or violin, or even flute), so anything you can find is fair game.

If you mean you are looking for a challenge, or even something beyond the typical Romantic (or French Impressionism), there is a condensed version of the Nielsen Concerto (only adding a snare drum in addition) that is worth trying, or even the Bernstein Sonata that are more technical.

Poulenc, Saint-Saens, Hindemith - lots of ground to cover.

A good starting point is a scan through the higher grade and diploma syllabuses of the main examining boards. They differ, but there are are significant overlaps, which is a good indication of what's considered standard repertoire.

Go to graduate and undergraduate school audition requirements. Sort out everything from there, and of course, ask your teacher!

Jack Brymer's book "Clarinet" has a fairly good list of clarinet repertory.

Hmm... IMO just about any half decent clarinet music is worth listening to... or non-clarinet music for that matter...

OTOH I don't think any music is "obligatory repertoire".
