A friend was told to clear out some junk in the attic at the school where he works. As he knows I play he asked me if I wanted one of the instruments he found. I know that it's way beyond any hope of restoration. I would just like to find a little history if anyone knows something about it. A photo is attached. with a little polishing I found the following: A serial # D7767, Logo on the bell "American Perfection"
Thanks, John

Indeed, the one pictured is in awful condition and missing the barrel which could prove impossible to replace. Even if you got it for nothing, it would be no bargain. I respectfully suggest that you pass it up.
A good metal clarinet can be a lot of fun and very useful for casual outdoors performances. If you want to get into a decent one, look for a Silver King, Silva-Bet, Boston Wonder, Noblet, Conn, Buescher, Haynes, Selmer, service band editions of the Holton and Pan American, and the Pan American with bell engraving of an eagle atop a globe.
