Pruefer wood one-piece set Bb-A art. G#, any info?

My first post here, I am getting ready to address this set of Pruefers, and am curious if anyone out there has any experience with this model. I got them in the ( original) double case, they are wood one piece bodies with I believe hard rubber inserts, art. G#. No cracks in the wood, four digit serials. I am guessing from the thirties. My interest lies with the question: What are the odds that after overhauls, I would end up with a playable set?

Quite good. I've overhauled/restored several Preufers from the same era and they have been quite respectable players. The fact that yours came as a pair would indicate that they have been used as orchestral instruments, and that will normally filter out the lesser quality instruments. Go for it, you'll probably be pleasantly surprised.

the Pruefers we have are all really nice players, very good tone. Where they fall short is the intonation isn't the best, esp very sharp C#/G#. But those are intermediate instruments from 60s. Yours are pro level instruments so they probably much better in that respect.

I wouldn't have any hesitation to get a matching pair of Pruefers and do rebuild even if they required some intonation work.
