That's Chicken Salad, Not Reeds!

I thought it might be nice to buy a Rico Reed Vault to store reeds I have worked on and gotten into playing condition so as to maintain an inventory of ready to play reeds. http://www.pro-music-news.com/html/11/e70113ri.htm Sadly, the Rico Product, as many of you probably know, is discontinued. Still more, I'm sure it comes as no surprise that there's plenty of other devices one can buy/use to store reeds in with a Rico Revitalizer pack, from Rico's zip lock bag, to one found in most kitchens, to "Tupperware" like devices that seal the air inside a container. But that said, as I found out yesterday from google searching and other woodwind.org threads, the Rico Reed Vault was a Lock & Lock Brand 1.5 cup container. http://www.amazon.com/Lock-1-5-Cups-Removable-Trays/dp/B0028LT9DI I suppose you could paint it black if exposure to light is of concern. It seems the revitalizer packs and vault are---and by the way there's nothing wrong with this, companies do it all the time--just other vendor's products, repurposed for the humidity controlled single reed marketspace. So don't be surprised if you reach into the fridge for some finished reeds, and accidently take out the chicken salad instead. (Neither Tupperware nor Amazon are brands expressly endorsed here. The former was used, like the brand name Q-tip is, to refer generically to sealed containers, just as Q-tip is used to generically mean cotton swabs.) Post Edited (2014-04-24 17:18)
