Lizzie & everyone else - don't start a new thread related to a thread you just started, OK? Wait a day or so for answers to your first question, then possibly start asking a few more within the same thread. But please - wait a bit before starting new related threads. The answers get spread out and difficult to follow.
Also - try searching before you post. many subjects (such as plastic reeeds!) have been discussed to death here, and possibly your questions have already been answered in depth.
Thanks,
mark C.

I'm not trying to be rude, but it's kind of impolite for you to type all your messages in capitals.
it's hard to read also, so....can you stop?

Lizzie,
All caps is considered to be the internet equivalent of shouting besides being hard to read. Do you really want people to think you are shouting at them?

The answer is between $ 10 and $15 dollars each They can break very easily and in the hands of a beginner they should last between 1 to 3 months if they are not abused.
This is of course only a rough estimate.
Good luck with your lessons.

If you still check these responses, for wooden reeds, I use V-12, threes; those have been incredible lately, but usually, I use the Legere plastics, for about $16 ordered, $22 at stores. I love them, I've been using the same ones for about six months now, I don't really use wooden reeds that often any more, but I keep them around for emergencies. Right now I play the 3.75 plastics.
