I don't have much to say about this so I will let the Minneapolis Star Tribune say it all:

Considering the shaky "future" of the Minnesota Orchestra, I think that was a pretty smart move on Hara's part to move to Los Angeles. Also the weather is much nicer.

I was at an open rehearsal for the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra on Wednesday and when the usher found out I was a clarinetist she asked if I knew where Tim Paradise had gone! (former principal clarinetist whose contract was bought out last year) In fact SPCO doesn't even have a full-time clarinetist anymore. There is simply a list of musicians who are extras as needed.
The SPCO is world-class and one of the only full-time orchestras of its size in the US. Minnesota Orchestra just won a Grammy for a Sibelius CD. However the consensus in the media here is that Osmo Vanska will not be back as music director of the MN unless there is a change in management.
How does everyone feel about the prospect of auditioning in Minnesota? Any thoughts?

Well if you use the "Louisville Orchestra" model (where management is a bunch of businessmen purely looking to create profit) you'd better stay away until things change. NO ONE should be in the arts using SIX SIGMA tactics.....it's stupid.
