Especially the first few notes sound a bit like a saxophone to me.

LOL yeah I know but it sounds a lot like a sax in the first few notes (of the clarinet). The rest sounds like a clarinet but gosh... I am a loooong way if ever to reach that level of playing.

I'm sorry, at no part of the video does the clarinet sound like a saxophone.

Are you new to the clarinet possibly? I suppose you might be, given that you say ''I am a (loooong) way if ever to reach that level of playing".

If this style is of interest then you should check out Acker Bilk with strings - it's the first thing I thought of when playing the clip.

Why does everyone use this same clarinet picture?

My thought exactly! Then I read the name. Then I thought "Another Acker Bilk??"

Yep I am new to the clarinet :) Thanks for the confirmation though. There are some parts of the sound that has this tiny bit of "brassy" qualities to it that made me wonder.

I have heard of Acker Bilk, and usually just thought of it as stuff that old people used to listen to (lol sorry I'm getting old too).... but never realised that he's a clarinetist until now! I've just looked him up on youtube, Thanks! :) See the things I could learn by asking stupid questions! :) :) :) I quite like his style and music.
