 Leblanc Opus II

Anyone have any Opus II experience to share.

Also, is the "adjustable bridge mechanism and E/B and F#/C# keys" feature worthwhile, and really player (non-technician) friendly. Leblanc says it saves trips to the repair shop. I read that the Rossi clarinet also allows some adjustment by the player.

Bill,
As you may have figured, I'm a Leblanc fan and have owned and sold many Opuses. My friends who are dealers tell me the Opus II was originally intended to the the Millenium Opus, but Leblanc didn't get it out as quickly as they thought. Larry Combs helped in the design with the addition of the adjustable bridge. This can be a good thing, but one usually only has the bridge adjusted at the initial set-up and it isn't needed again unless the clarinet changes owners and the new owner likes his/her key action higher/lower than the original.

Whether or not it's worth the extra money over the regular Opus is up to the individual. It's like buying a car or any other high dollar item. How much do you use the 6 disk CD changer over the regular CD player that has a standard manual changer?

The Opus is a wonderful clarinet is every way.

Brenda, I believe Richard Hawkins did the design of this one (I'm sure he got the advice of a few of his good buddies including Larry, but Richard would be the one to credit).
