I visit several forums. Why has this one been so slow for the last few days? I have ADSL and most web pages arrive in 2 to 5 seconds. This forum has been taking 20 to 30 seconds.

Don't know - something in the route between you and Sneezy. It's fine here in Texas.

Gordon
I'm in Dallas, TX and notice nothing unusual with my dial-up service. Comes up in 5-8 seconds.
Must be El Niņo, amigo. After all, it is a long haul.

Gordon,
Try using NeoTracer to see the IP hops to sneezy. Or go into MSDOS prompt type "tracert www.sneezy.org" This will also show IP Hops and you will be able to see the bottleneck from there. I pinged sneezy and it was at 1876ms at 7:25PM EST.

Ow! I'm running 252ms over 16 hops from Austin, TX to the basement of my "real" home in Detroit (where Sneezy lives).

I tested again and I got 355ms. And again and I got 210ms. Don't know what happened earlier but now i'm doin good. I'm from Northern Viriginia and on hop 17 it says No Response. Mark, what do you think is wrong?

BTW it's kind of neat that the CAIS main office is just a few miles.(This Info is from NeoTrace.)

Hrmm... I tried that tracert thing, but it timed out thirty times. Because of a firewall I would assume? Anyway, sneezy.org still comes up fast enough for me, regardless of what some computer program may say. :-) -- Nate Zeien

I don't know about your pingy thingy, but the last five days I have only been able to get "Sneezy" after about five tries. I get a partial indication (about 10% load and 36/38 bits) then it hangs up. I "stop load" and try again. On about the third try it works. What I have taken to doing is calling it up and then "minimize"---going about other tasks and coming aback in about 15 minutes. Works better. I use "Opera 5.02" as a browser.

Lotsa sunspots in the last week. If your link bounces off a satellite, that may be the problem.
