I notice that a disproportionate number of the portraits with clarinet are with big ones. Dr Freud would have something to say about that . . .

Larger instruments with multiple curves are just more visually interesting than a small straight stick.

Besides, people who play the larger clarinets are demonstrably cooler than those who play soprano instruments [he said, ducking and running for his life].
