Friend Principal of Swedish Sym. has to play this from a 2013 Violin Concerto.

I recorded the "crazy part"

(With all the sarcasm I can muster)

Something about this music seemed familiar.

So I dusted off my H. Klose studies, Volume 1, the introductory book, and there it was on page 10, as the second exercise, right after the prior exercise where the student plays whole notes.

As a 4th grader, my teacher, Martin Frost, use to make me do this passage, while doing a headstand in the snow. But at least he let me hang my clarinet strap from my upsidedown feet! [wink]

====

David..my hat's off to you. I'm not sure I'd want to even attempt that legato.

I wouldn't call it much music, but I did call their bluff.

Why a composer would write like that is completely psycho.

I just talked to the guy who's conducting the piece, and he said your tempo was just fine but for the performance you need to know the copyist neglected to mark 8va over the part, so please be prepared. And he wants it on the A clarinet too, with a mute in the bell, thank you. Much more dissonant and subversive that way.

Play the [G6] as TR oxo +lowest right side key / ooo

Play the [G#6] as TR ooo + lowest right side key / ooo

It's basically just using the G6 to Ab6 trill fingering.

However in the big scheme of things - who cares?

:)

Hadn't practiced it to even begin thinking of fingerings.

Like that though!
