 R13

Not sure if this is the right forum so forgive me if not. Recently bought a Buffet Crampon clarinet with a serial number 133499. Was told it was an R13, but though I can confirm it was made in 1972, can find no confirmation or otherwise it is an R13. Can anyone help, please?

Does it have cutouts in the wood under the right hand pinkie keys? If so it's an R13. The R13 doesn't have any model designation near the logo, so that's another pointer.

Tony, Thank you very much for your valuable information. It does have cut outs in the wood under the right hand pinkie keys. I bought the clarinet recently, and took it to someone who is reputed to be a very good restorer, and though it plays, the pads and cork need replacing and some of the keys need tightening. I was being quoted a high figure for the work, and being very new to clarinets, wanted to find out what I had before spending the money. Guess I'll go ahead. Thanks again

Its worth noting that both of my pre-r13s also have cutouts under the pinky keys. Try searching "how to identify an r13". There are dosens of obious features that make an r13 legit.
Good luck.

Btw is it an R13 or a R13? I never really liked grammar!

An R13. It's more sound than grammar. The rule is "use an before a vowel sound". By this, they do not mean use an before a vowel because R is pronounced Arrrr and it is not a vowel.
