Does anyone know how the Eb-levers are connected on Amati 18/6 clarinets? It is probably the same as on their full boehms but I would be particularly interested in how the mechanism is configured on their "standard" clarinets like the Acl 372 A clarinet for example.

I know Yamaha has a solution where the right and left hand Eb/Ab-levers always move together whereas Buffet has chosen a design where the left one moves independently of the right one...

Amati LH Ab levers are loose (like older Selmers) instead of having a pinned linkage to the Ab/Eb key.

So if you move the right hand key the left hand lever will not move?

It may move depending on the angle you're holding the clarinet - it isn't sprung at all, so it's free to move or stay put when using the RH Ab/Eb key.

I know some Buffet players aren't too happy with the rebound they feel in the RH Ab/Eb key when the LH lever moves under its own weight and butts against the linkage on the Ab/Eb pad cup. A light gauge flat spring can be fitted to the underside of the LH Ab/Eb lever to prevent any rebound.

Perfect. I value the advantage when using the RH key during fast passages of not having to accelerate the left hand lever as well. I knew you were the one to have an answer to this.

Many thanks!
