Sorry about the cross post but I wanted everyone to know wha that happened to mr.
Hi all,
With many years pf playing, especially my patricola, I may have to give it up.I have a very bad immune deficiency that has given me so many pnunomias that my lungs are too scarred to get enough wind to play for a whole piece. I bought an Akai 4000s and a vlm80 with the patchman turbo rom. But it doesn't have the feel Of my real clarinet. The EWI does sound gpod and I think I can make it work for my trio. It is sad though that i cannot play the real thing. I will also have to get rid of my yaginasawa 901 alto and soprano as well but thats what cards I was dealt. I am a patient of the NIH national institutes of health and they do not think my lungs will com back either. Thank goodness for synths that will still allow me to be active in music.

So sorry to hear about your situation. I had to stop playing for six years, never thought I would play again. It was rough. Never give up hope. If you were sure you wanted to sell your horns and I had any money I would buy your Patricola. Maybe I can hold on to it for you until you want it back... Just kidding, you will be in my prayers

I'm sorry about your lungs. You might want to keep those clarinets, though, just in case the doctors are wrong. Often they're delighted to be wrong, too. Back in 1998, a surgeon told me (jokingly -- he already knew I had a strange sense of humor and I'd be okay with him saying this): "I wish I could autopsy you to figure out why you're still alive!" You're still a musician with those synths no matter what your lungs do, but just in case your body has a surprise in store, it's probably good karma to keep those clarinets at the ready.

Thanks for your hopes and prayers. I know regular playing is out of the picture. Too many scars in my lungs and my 02 is so low I am on oxygen 24/7. But with good controllers and virtual modeling, I think I will still be playing till the end of my time. The A901 is almost sold so I should be able to ramp up to the ewi 4000s with the turbo patched vl70m. I will also keep my eyes open to new technology.
