I was just watching this fine performance of Sibelius 1st Symphony on Youtube, and wondered who the fellow playing Principal clarinet is... it looks a bit like Phillippe Berrod but I'm not sure. Well, to be honest I don't think it is Berrod. Anyone out there who can tell me definitively?

Yes, it is Philippe Berrod with the Orchestre de Paris. I really love the way he shapes his sound in the phrases. Thanks for the link.

Yes a fantastic rendition of the opening- it sounds to me like strings burst in just a fraction of a second too soon... someone's "on" the stick?... I love how he starts the section after the timp stops, a well timed silence! Artful.
