Nagamatsu's web site (www.nagamatsu.jp/english/product/mouth5.html) shows a photo of Sabine Meyer playing a copper "Nagamatsu Complete Ligature" on a clarinet equipped with a Paulus and Schuler adjustable barrel. The new ligature incorporates a felt pad between the copper and the reed.
Has anyone tried one of these ligatures?

Her Wikipedia entry says she was born in 1959, which makes her 54, plus she's had two children. I guess she's entitled to be less willowy than she used to be.

Gosh I am almost embarrassed to make this thread about a ligature, but I'll try.
I have found many good ligatures amongst those that combine a soft basic superstructure with a firm plate for the reed. The Vandoren Leather with the Bonade style metal plate is a good example of this and it is also a fairly expensive ligature that sells very well.
This particular design seem to flip this approach on its head, but keeps the basic principal of combining a firm element and one that is more cushioned. It is most probably a decent ligature, and seems to be priced within range of its competition.

There is no better ligature for larger reeds than the old John Winslow models using up to six rubber bumper contacts on the reed. However, for the soprano clarinet, I prefer a harder metal contact to limit unwanted upper overtones in the tambre. I use the Vandy Optimum with the parallel rails and like it just fine.
