Dear all,

I am an amateur player and recently bought a 3 year old Yamaha YCL 450 clarinet. I let my local technician change the pads, adjust the instrument and oil it. Please note that I keep the instrument clean, swab during/after playing, cleaning keywork etc.

After a month of playing (1-2 hours daily) I realized that there were some stains in the lower section of the bore. It looks like something from the B pad leaked down, went all the way to G#. The B pad had a reddish/brownish dirty color.

It was tricky but I managed to take some pictures. I tried to remove the stain with a cotton swab and alcohol but it is really solid. But I managed to remove the stain from my clarinet.

I've read some old threads about unstaining and rubbed the clarinet with cotton pads soaked in sanitary alcohol, managed to clean it on the outside and around tenons. The wood looks black now and there are no defects to hide (except a spot where they put some reddish paint on it).

I have no clue what leaked down. Maybe the technician used some glue on B key and went down? What should I do? Would you say that it affects the instrument badly, adding resistance etc?

Thanks in advance and have a nice day
