I've been checking out all the serial number sites, but I can't seem to find any info on one of my clarinets. It is a wood G.W.Bundy with serial number 706. Every site I've been to starts the numbering with #5000. I would really appeciate any help I can get in identifying a year, as well as any other history/info.
Thanks

Jim,
I am going to make an assumption here that this is a wood bundy. George Bundy started working to the Selmer Co in New York in the early 20's. He soon bought the rights to US distributorship from the Selmer Bros. Alexandre had come to the US to run the business, in about 1912 I beleive, but yearned to return to France. George had Selmer make the first Bundy's. It wasn't until the factory was moved to Elkhart that production began in the US. I have a Selmer history text around somewhere but can't seem to find it at the moment so some of my facts may be a little off. "G.W. Bundy-Paris" were some of the first and are stencils of the Selmer clarinet. I can't find any difference except that the wood in some of them has more "grain" to them. I'm going to estimate that this clarinet was made in the the early 30's.
John

J B's info is very good, we had a thread-posts on this a while back, so Search the Phorum [G W Bundy] . My good friend's horn had a lower ser. no. as I recall, its in my post, and I estimated 1925-30 for it. Luck Don
