Hi All,
I have an old Pan Am clarinet with serial#? 150598 engraved on the longest piece. It feels and looks like plastic to me. How do I find out what material and how old it is? Please see 2 attached files. Thanks for for your quick response.

Looks to me that you have a Pan American 58N. The bell and barrel are plastic, while the keyed joints are hard rubber (ebonite). You can confirm that it's hard rubber by lightly rubbing a keyed joint tenon on the palm of your hand--your palm will then smell something like sulfur or an old tire.
This was one of the last Pan American instruments made, in the 1950s. The Pan American marque was then phased out, with many Pan American models being reintroduced as Conn "Director" models.
I owned and gigged with one of these for a while. It can be played at shockingly high volume levels and did well in a big band setting, easily competing with an overmanned trumpet section. But, the keys did not fit my smallish hands very well and they have an unusually wide range of motion--making the clarinet less than enjoyable for me to play.

Wow, you're right on. Yes, it does smell like old tire/sulfur -- the entire interior smells like it too. Thanks so much for your quick reply.
