The Clarinet BBoard

Dear Folks,
Since we have all shown such interest in knowing who people are and where they are from on the BB (the map pin idea is great but slightly impersonal)- I would like to make a suggestion to Mark - and if he does not have the time, I will do it myself .... have everyone send in a snap shot of themselves in their favorite practice attire or place (nothing x-rated please) with a name (or alias) and home location written on the front. I got such a hoot out the mental picture of Willie's (see axle grease thread) practicing scales while in traffic (darn, that is a good idea for the Atlanta traffic jams I may have to do it myself!) that I can imagine some of the other weird places we choose to practice. I believe this collage of pictures of us common folk plugging away at practice is so much more impressive than the 8x10 glossy photos of the clarinet heirarchy that it really strikes me as a good idea. This of course would be displayed at Clarinetfest 2001 to be added to by the folks attending. We'll see if Mark bites - if not I will supply contact information and a digital picture of the finished collage after Clarinetfest 2001.

Omar,
Sounds like an idea. Now if this were the trumpet BB, there could be some strange ones. I sit in traffic with my MP & barrel and practice at traffic lights. But, one day I saw, as I sat in my car in the left-turn lane, (it's the truth) a guy coming from my right, making a left turn onto the street I was on, going the opposite direction, PLAYING a trumpet as he was cornering.
Who knows, there may have been enough active musical drivers out there for an ensemble.
It's a little difficult to steer an play the fully assembled CL though.

I love these ideas but if this scientist gets any more weird - it's the men in the white coats and straight jacket time. OK - ya'll get creative and send me a picture as an EMail (doctorsprod@mindspring.com) attachment, not too many megabytes please, -- include your alias and home town - or - send a snapshot by snail mail to: The Doctor, 24 Suffolk Pl., Lilburn, GA 30047-5147. I'll digitize and collage the pictures and you will be famous (or infamous) at ClarinetFest 2001. If you icons of the clarinet world want to send an 8x10 autographed glossy it will get equal play with Willie in his truck and me in top hat and flannel shirt in the laboratory! This will only work with your help and creative minds. THANKS!!!!!!!!
