Got my letter from the U of Iowa school of music last week, concerning my audition a month ago.....drumroll please..... I got in! Got accepted to the clarinet performance studio (even though i'm a music ed major), and got a full ride tuition scholarship (not a music scholarship, an academic one. i'm not eligible for a music one i dont think cuz i got a full rude academic). So this is great. I though i would have to be a liberal arts major freshman year if i didnt get in, and then try again next year... but i guess not! This is awesome!!!
If only it would be a week from now, i have solo ensemble contest saturday. i have a clarinet solo, bass clarinet solo, clarinet duet, clarinet quartet, sax trio, and percussion choir (I get to play bass drum, yay!), so i'm stressing a lot. And my school is hosting it, so i'll probably be timing at a center when i'm not doing anything. greeaatttt.......

Ashley; Congratulations and don't be afraid to thank your teachers. This is a feather in their cap also. Good luck on contest day. Hard work does pay off, right?

Congratulations!
Do you know who will be your teacher?
I've heard only good things about Dr. Mead. She's really nice and an accomplished player.
I also know that Dr. Maxey from KU is teaching at U of I once a week. He's a great player and an outstanding teacher..

Way to go, Ashley. With enthusiastic and talented people like you, the furture of music education in this US of A is bright, inDEED!!!!!!!!! Congradulations and good luck with WSMA. (I'm adjudicatng "State" at Whitewater April 28th) Good clarineting!!!!!!
