According to their website he joined in July 2013. Chicago showed him as principal in 2012. Any updates on this info?

He is a part of NYP now, but is also still holding the principal position of CSO. I don't know why. Maybe he is on a trial run with NYP and he's holding onto the CSO spot if he doesn't hold this new position.
Feels like the Ricardo Morales situation all over again....

Then is it simply strange for us to see this happening, because the top orchestras haven't had turnover like this for clarinet in many years???

In most cases when a player goes to another orchestra they ask, and usually get, a year leave from the orchestra they're leaving to make sure it works out in the new orchestra. Once in a while it doesn't from the point of view of the player or the newer orchestra. They are always on probation for at least one season, sometimes more.

I wish I could get a deal like that when I change jobs. "Go ahead and move on, we'll hold your old job open for a year in case the new one doesn't work out for you". Must be nice.
