 Compact Hardshell Case

Apparently the compact Yamaha case has fallen out of favour by its manufacturer. There is the Jupiter case which looks similar...

Anyone has a source with similar ("Yamaha style") cases? I seem to remember that I've seen them on some auction site, but can't find any right now.

Try Wichitamusic, I've seen the odd one on their EBay site. Buffet B12's used to come in a similar case. Perhaps they still do.

Buffet Toscas come in a similar case to the Yamahas.

http://shop.weinermusic.com/Clarinet-Cases/departments/1225/ has a huge selection of cases.

Buffet Tosca cases are horrendous and no doubt over priced.

A lot of Chinese clarinets come in a pretty decent wooden case with the inside tray formed like that of the Yamaha plastic cases, so it could be worthwhile buying a cheap Chinese clarinet just for the case and binning the clarinet or turning it into a lamp.

I thought of that, Chris, but from an eco?o?ical standpoint, this is a bit, uhm, silly, no?

(just to be precise, I was talking about these: http://www.music123.com/woodwinds/yamaha-standard-clarinet-case/540236000000000)

When you say 'eco?o?ical', do you mean ecological or economical or both?

Have you considered an SKB case?

What's the value of the clarinet you intend to house in it? You could always get a Bundy case if it's a pro level clarinet and that will deter any would-be thieves!

it's primarily about the size of the case. Think of itas a gigbag, not a permanent home.

These exact cases can be readily picked up for about £50. They do come with a Yamaha 26II clarinet in them, though.

They are a great, cheap backup instrument. It is what goes on holiday with me...

I use the Chinese Yamaha-based case for my Yamaha Oehler system as it's far more compact than the case it came with and all the joints are separated.

The Peter Eaton International I added a LH Ab/Eb key to came in a Yamaha 26II/34II case: http://www.clarinetperfection.com/galleryclar/Keywork/CP1/20.jpg
