Yamaha pro double cases are excellent. Far better than those poxy and massively overpriced Buffet double cases that keep the bells on the lower joints.

I own both and I like the new Protec case a lot better. As with Chris P, I don't like how the Buffet cases force you to keep the bells attached to the lower joints. The Protec keeps everything separate and seems to be a bit more rigid compared it's previous incarnations. Best of all it was able to fit both of my enhanced boehm Selmer's in without much of a fuss.

I have the new Protec case and I think there's nothing not to like about it. Room for spare barrels, both clarinets sit in it completely disjointed, seems tough, two large outside pockets - and not that expensive at all.

I have the buffet attache double and I think it's more traditional and classy looking, but I am kinda annoyed with the low quality styrofoam underneath the velvet. I saw my friend's protec case and I though the materials used were high quality

I HATED the Protec case, and am loving my Allora double case which I bought 6 months ago, fits both clarinets easily, room for 4 barrels (I only use 2), it's much lighter than the other double cases I've checked out, it's reasonably priced (25-50 bucks US depending on where you go, I got mine on amazon, which was the only place that would ship to Canada, though WWBW also carries it), it comes with 2 sturdy straps with metal clasps (not plastic like the Protec, which on mine broke in 6 months), and you can stand it on its end (which is useful when you travel in tight spaces on transit.)

I have the allora double case too (back when it was called vienna). I like the lightness as well, but it feels a bit cheap.

The new protec cases look pretty nice and are incredibly affordable. I'd choose that case for that price range hands down. If you want to spend $500 or so, get a Bonna Case.

I love the new version of the BAM Double Trekking case...smallest and lightest double case I've ever owned, although it's not great if you want to carry everything and the kitchen sink along with you (the original Double Trekking case is better for that).

Generally no. They are usually good.
Except the type that clicks to close, which tends to have the latches break, as opposed to the type where you fold the latches over to close, which is fine in that regard. But the latter type is just very big and (unless you add a cover or put it in a huge bag) can only be carried like a suitcase (applied to the first type too).
For me these are enough reasons to dismiss both types of Buffet double cases.
