Someone in orchestra got a hold of one of these and gave it to me to mess with. I'm going to re-pad it and see what happens. I tried some online searches to find out what I have. I didn't find too much, but from what I did find, it's an Italian clarinet. This one is serial # 98xxx, so it's later than other ones I've seen online that have sold on various sites. I know it wouldn't re-sell for much, so I'll probably hold onto it. Who knows, maybe I can find a student that needs something.

One thing I haven't been able to find it what exactly it's made of. My guess would be silver. That way, I can figure out the best way to clean it (it's very tarnished and if I handle it without gloves, my hands turn silver/black). I find it interesting and cool that the springs look really good (blue needle springs are almost perfect-looking), so I bet they're not original.

Any advice as I embark on this project?
