Tammy,
No, this won't cause a problem. My lig. does the same.

Try not tightening it so much. And be sure the lig. doesn't bend so that the sides touch the edges of the reed--if that happens, the effect of the lig is severly compromised. Most Bonade users have to constantly adjust the configuration of their ligs with a pliers to make certain that only the rails touch the reed and not the band as well. Good clarineting!!!!!!!

The above post by William from Madison is, as usual, right on point. Let me add some emphasis to one of his points.

IMHO, the # 1 problem players have with metal ligatures is overtightening the screw(s). I believe this to be the main reason (not the only reason) for the well deserved popularity of the new fabric ligs such as the Rovner. The materials and design make it difficult to overtighten these devices. They combine the easy adjustability of the metal lig with the gentle even pressure of the old German string lig.

The Bonade design must be a good one because that lig has survived in the marketplace for close to 50 years. I still play one, along with a c. 1957 French metal plate ligature.

If you will adjust the screws "snug" rather than "tight", your Bonade should feel more like a fabric lig, while retaining the rigidity of the metal if you prefer that material.
