It was written for George Silfies, who gave the world premier with the St. Louis Symphony.

Jack, thanks very much. George was a friend, dating back to AHS in1942. I sat next to him, which caused me to go into engineering as a profession.

I have the dots of this work, interesting piece really and a shame it never got more performances.
The publisher is Boosey and Hawkes and I believe they published another clarinet work bynthensame composer, though I can't think off the top if my head and I really need to sleep.
Good night

Richard, I knew from some of your previous posts that you've known George for a long time. That's one of the reasons I responded. BTW, I got to hear the world premier in a live radio broadcast.
Peter, you're probably thinking of Argento's, "To Be Sung upon the Water" for high voice, piano and clarinet.
Best regards,
jnk
