Dear Friends:
I don't know if this would be a "new" thing, but I'd like to see more ANNOUNCEMENTS of up-coming jobs.
It seems to me that this would be in the spirit of helping each other out which is what this forum is all about.

The musicians union prints a national news paper monthly with many articles and anouncement of every audition that has been anounced. That's were all interested musicians go to find out what's opened. If you don't belong to the musicians union you should try to find a friend that does and ask them to allow you to read the paper. All the auditions are listed on the back few pages. Everything from small to large to many foreign orchestra's as well. It includes military bands, some college and conducting and summer positions as well. It's by far, the best source for seeing what's available.

I think this is kinda what I was getting at. Yes, you can be a member of the Union (what is it, $300 a year?) and get the paper, or you can according to a friend of mine resource at least six different websites (to include Musical Chairs) for audition notices.
But what sorta bothers me is that HERE, every now and then we get the occasional posted question, "Does anyone know who won the X audition last week?" It would have been nice if someone had just mentioned it PRIOR to the audition. Even my friend (who is a trombonist by the way) wouldn't just come out and tell me where he got the notice of the Albany gig.
It just seems this gesture would be a nice little addition to all the LIVE STREAM notifications we get. Maybe one of will actually become gainfully employed and not have to sit in front of a computer all the time.

Here in MD the dues is half that much. I guess if you're not playing union jobs it doesn't pay to join until you have too. Many conservatories post the openings on a B board but you have to live near one. There used to be a sight on facebook, clarinet jobs, that used to list all anounced auditions but the person that did that closed it down. As I said, the best way to get the info is to know someone that gets the union paper and arrange with them to let you read it when it comes out each month. I will try to post all the clarinet vacancies on this BB for all to read, but when I'm on vacations and traveling, hopefully often once I retire in mid Sept., it will be delayed until I get home each month. I'll do my best to keep up with it beginning with the next issue.
