Thanks Joe,
I need that after today's (almost) all day band clinic and concert. How he looks is exaclty how I feel about now! But What A Wonderful Day! One of the best for a few years for me and my kids! I had two fantastic guest clinicians. One to do my advanced band (Evyann Fariss, First Colony Middle School, Ft Bend, Tx) and one for the intermediate band (Larry Stites, Hodges Bend Middle School, Ft Bend, Tx). The band parents organized a barbecue dinner as a fund raiser. The kids rehearsed from 1-5 p.m. and then we ate from 5-6:30 and finally presented our concert at 7. We go to contest in two weeks and now I feel like we have taken great strides to acheiving superior ratings again this year. Oh, yes the beginners played too but during the afternoon they helped decorate the cafeteria and worked as waiters for the dinner.

What sized school? 3a,4a,5a? Ihope you don't have to go clear out to "Industrial" like we did. That was a long haul to the middle of nowhere. Nice school though. Good luck!

That was worth a good laugh! :-) There are days when I feel like that. There are probably some days when I kind of look like that too, minus an arm or two. lol... Reminds me of something I saw on the BB a while back. Check out the link below...

Nothing against Mr. Smith, but I think the fellow in the other photo has a better chance! :-) -- Nate Zeien

I had the clinicians as guests at the school where I teach band. There wasn't any travel involved. It is a CCC school (1078 students grades 6-8) on the NW side of Houston (Pinemont and 290 area). The name of the school is Clifton Middle School.
BTW I know exactly where Industrial is...I was there for two years way 'long time ago. I still have a house in the BIG metropolis of Vanderbilt. You know of anyone who wants to buy some property there? (For those of you not familiar with Vanderbilt it is a wide spot in the road near the coastline about 30 miles ENE of Victoria. On the flip side it is about 110 miles south of Houston...kind of have to follow that coastline around, and no real good way to get there. About150 people live there and that's a high estimate, and a big "HEE HAW" style "SALUTE" to that!)

There I am! After six months of playing, it looks like someone got a candid shot of me........especialy this week after I got my horn out of repair.

Hey! Sounds like my kind'o place John. I'll be retiring in a couple of years (2 1/2) and I'm ready to get out of Dodge............er...uh...Dallas. Just heard the Metroplex gained another 850,000 people on this last census .........Bigger is Better!
John, BTW. For what it's worth, if you live in the Fort Bend area, our firm just finished the architecture for a new high school there, which should be under construction or close to finishing up.
Ain't this fun!

Want another laugh?
I just printed out Mr. Schickele and told my wife that someone got a candid shot of me playing (she hates it when I play - guess she's my "cat"). She said, "That's not you." I said, "Sure it is." She went to get her glasses and repeated, "That's not youuu."
Hey, I don't *have* a beard.

That looks just like me trying to play Coplands "Hoe-Down" at our muni-band rehearsal last Thursday night. Thanks for the laugh--we all need them sometimes.
