I was listening to classical radio this morning and they played a selection from the Cd called "Clarinet and Orchestra - David Stadler et al with Dieter Klocker on clarinet". Because I was walking between my car and my office, I was listening to it on my portable digital radio and headphones. The reception is often bad enough that it's difficult to assess musical value but when I'm out and about I still find myself using it.
I was wondering if anyone has heard this Cd. It includes the Adagio and Rondo by Johann Hummel (the only selection I was able to hear) Czecho Slovak Orchestra - Schmaufauss conductor - the Intermezzo for 2 clarinets (Stadler), Variations for Clarinet in Bb theme from Alrona - the Intro and Variation for Clarinet and orchestra by Kreutzer. The computer said it was on the Marco Polo label cat #223431 recorded mid 90's. Was this album an overall keeper?

I think i've got this somewhere- at any rate, i'm sure I've got Kloecker doing the Spohr Alruna variations... i'll look for it when it's daylight and have a listen. I'm not a huge fan of Dieter Kloecker but certainly have some respect (diminished somewhat by his pathetically self agrandising "musicological research", i am genuinely sad to say). I recall this CD didn't exactly knock me over, but certainly was a good record of this seldom heard repertoire.
