 American pieces

Hi everyone. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any pieces for clarinet by American composers. I can only think of a few off the top of my head and those are pretty serious works... I'm mainly looking for something not too difficult and fairly audience-friendly, and with an accompaniment that isn't too hard, either. I signed up to play in my SAI chapter's All-American Musicale, and that will be on April 8, so I don't have huge amounts of time. Also if there are any duets or ensembles of any kind that fall under what I said above, that would be nice too. So if anyone knows anything, I would really appreciate it! Thanks for your info!

Three come to mind off the top:

Alec Templeton's "Pocket-Sized" Sonatas w/piano (1&2) are charming short movements; many performers use them as encores but they work just as nicely as feature pieces; catchy melodies and easy to throw together in a pinch

Morton Gould's "Benny's Gig"; 8 short duos for Bb and Double Bass, deceptively difficult, hot little swingers that make great toe-tappers; very light and entertaining; written for Benny as a personal 70th Birthday gift and presented 30 May 1979

Peter Schickele's "Windows", Three Pieces for A and classical guitar; latin-style strummers with a catchy Pavane, Cantilena, and zippy Refrain; well written/rarely performed or recorded; a worthy novelty piece from the PDQ Bach Man himself; also, if you can't get hold of an A the guitarist can simply place a capo on the first fret and you can still play Bb.

Bon Apetite
