OT? Aulos

A question about the ancient Greek woodwind called an aulos. I understand they are double-reed instruments with two pipes. One pipe is played with the left hand, the other with the right. These instruments were used in early Greek lyrical poetry and tragedy. I am curious as to any experience or insight in to playing an aulos. Thanks.

I wonder if they sounded like practice chanters, cornamuses or duduks which are parallel bore double reed instruments.

On Greek pottery you see satyrs playing the instrument.

They even made metal ones (Auloi?) - I think there's a pair of solid silver ones in the British museum.
