I believe that this was an entry-level professional model produced in the 1990's and early 2000's, roughly equivalent to the Sonata model. Most Leblanc clarinets from this era were very nice instruments but never enjoyed widespread popularity in the US. Of course that same statement can be made about pretty much every professional clarinet not made by Buffet.

$1400 is a rather high price for this model. I would expect the clarinet to have a fresh set of pads and be very well adjusted for this price. It's worth trying out but keep in mind that there will be a lot of good used clarinets in this price range you don't feal the need to buy it unless you absolutely love it after your play test.

thanks for the reply, i was thinking it was overpriced, because just about everything at that store is. too bad we only have two places that really deal in woodwinds at all.

That's the case pretty much everywhere in the US unfortunately. You can still find supplies like reeds at many music shops but finding a store that actually stocks instruments other than drums, guitars, or keyboards is getting quite rare.
