Hey everyone,
I am just wondering if anyone knows extremely virtuosic clarinet solo works similar to Jorg Widmann's "Fantasie" and Penderecki's "Prelude for Solo Clarinet"? That wlll be suitable for a international music competition?

Donatoni's Clair is well enough known but not often played. It was used in the Paris Conservatory competition a few years ago.
The Sequenza by Berio is pretty tough and the Martino Set is likewise quite difficult.
I would put each of those three in the modern, technically virtuosic category. Each is extremely difficult, I would estimate probably in that order from hardest to "easiest."

The Sutermeister Capriccio for Solo Clarinet in A is not too difficult technically (though there are spots that need hard work to get perfectly smooth). But it's still difficult to bring off. It's full of musical winks and raised eyebrows. I've heard many good performances of the Berio and Martino pieces, but only a couple of the Sutermeister.
