I tried the Bari mouthpieces and the reeds. The mouthpieces were interesting but the one which was most like the B45 on which it was modeled was no better and maybe not even as good. The synthetic reeds were horrible for me. The plastic was not as responsive as slice of balsa wood.

I visited Wolfe a year or so after his wife had passed away. He was living in a condo in south Florida. We sipped Sherry and talked about the reed business. A visit I will always remember. He will be missed. Guy Legere

I'm quite sure that Wolfe was an intellegent, dedicated and charming person, as are so many people who cater to the traditional musical instrument market. Perhaps I shouldn't have been so harsh in my mini review of his reeds. I'm sure they work for someone. I certainly don't have a problem with synthetic reeds, as there are four of the fine Legeres in my clarinet case right now. In the process of perfecting the synthetic reed, many people will be needed with the courage to experiment and market new products. Perhaps even the Legere reeds, which I already find to be superior to anything else, will improve too.

Pretty sure Nick Brignola used Bari reeds . He sounded pretty good to me.
