Hi, I am a student living in New Zealand where it's difficult find reeds at any descent price for students (local store trades V12s at $42 USD). I used to shop at www.dornpub.com where I was very satisfied with its discounts and very cheap international postage. Their price was 5boxes of V12 4 for around $120 USD. BUT I am looking for V12 3.5+ reeds now(I have realized they are fairly new) which they don't have.
May I ask for any advice on where I could purchase Vandoren V12 3.5+ reeds for less than $30usd/box (or even cheaper?)

I'm pretty sure that Ozwinds, in Ormond Road, Melbourne, will ship reeds to you. Try their website at:
http://www.ozwinds.com.au
They currently show V12's at $40. I've not seen them for under $30 anywhere.

So that we over here in the U.S. can understand - what happens if you buy from an American online outlet (like Woodwind & Brasswind, Weiner Music or Muncy Woodwind Company)? All of them sell V12s at $25 (USD) or less for a box of 10 reeds. Or, at least, that's what they charge stateside customers who aren't dealing with currency exchange rates and overseas shipping.
An almost certainly naive question: if you order from one of those outlets, what does it cost you in New Zealand?

Unfortunately $40 AUD is almost $50 which is no different to my local store here. The US seems to have good deals.

Hi Karl, those outlets do have very low prices but
-WWBW apparently does not ship to NZ
-I'm currently waiting for Weiner Music's response to my email about their $60(!) international delivery fee if this is really the cheapest method
-I'll have to find out with Muncy because they wouldn't tell you the delivery fee to nz on the site.
For your last question, here's a little summary:
Dornpub(based in MA) - $142nzd for V12 (5 boxes) including delivery fee.
New Zealand - $250nzd for V12 (5 boxes)

As man off-topic side tangent, I actually have always thought that New Zealand and Australia were two parts of the same big land mass. Until I looked up a map to see the shipping distances involved, I had never realized NZ is an island very nearly as far from the Australian mainland as we in southeastern Pennsylvania are from Cuba or certainly from southern Florida.
I looked up the cost of sending a medium-sized Priority Flat Rate box via US Postal Service from Philadelphia (or anywhere in the US) to anywhere in New Zealand and find it costs $59.95 USD. That’s in line, maybe, with Weiner’s $60 charge. But, since it’s a flat rate (up to 20 lb) it’s the same whether you buy 2 or 20 boxes. Weiner normally ships via USPS in those flat rate boxes, so that may be what they’re quoting.
If you’re sure of the strength, you could buy in quantity and distribute the $60 cost over as many boxes as you can afford at once and fit within the 20 lb limit. If you can manage 10 boxes at once, you're under $30/box total, including the shipping. Obviously, an investment in 20 boxes brings the net cost per box down about $27. Maybe you could resell some of them to local clarinetist friends who are in the same fix, or just find another local player ahead of time to split the cost.

Yes they have replied and it's exactly as you have said
I would consider buying in bulk.
