The big solo is on the Trinity College London syllabus at Grade 8, if i recall correctly. I've almost never heard this performed (with orchestra) other than a recording on the radio of RPO with a certain NZer who lived in London for a while playing principal (i won't mention his name, as he is known to google himself every so often, then send abusive emails). At student level, i've yet to ever coax a fine performance of this piece from a student. There's another portion with fast articulation that was used for auditions here and there a while back. Quite hard, but also not very substantial. i can't recommend a recording, to be honest.

I have a good recording of this piece (although, there is a mistake in one of the piccolo solos I think, which kind of bothers me when I hear it!). I think it's Edo de Waart and the Minnesota Orchestra. The clarinet parts are played very well.
