Hi
This Selmer full Boehm clarinet doesn't have any model name written anywhere. It has the (supposedly) original barrel which is approx 66.8mm long. Is this the original length barrel with a clarinet like this? If anyone know what model this is I'm also interested.
It is very flat with this barrel and a different model but shorter barrel helped a lot but not completely. It was supposedly used in a professional orchestra (in USA if I'm not mistaken) with this barrel (so possibly with a very sharp mouthpiece to compensate).
Thanks

My first Selmers all came with 67mm barrels which is the standard length and they work fine - any shorter than that and the intonation goes out the window. I've played them mostly with Vandoren A1 crystals.
It looks like a K or maybe an L series clarinet to me - either a Balanced Tone or 55 which were being made before the Centered Tone. It's got the single piece A touchpiece and flat metal trill guide and the linkage arm from the Ab/Eb key for the LH Ab/Eb lever, so is probably from the '30s-'40s. What's the serial number?
If you do need a shorter barrel, contact me instead of having it shortened.

FWIW...
My late-40's Selmer full Boehm has a (possibly) original barrel that is 65mm. Plays in tune.
