Hi everyone,
I'm attempting (to no avail) to identify this clarinet, belonging to the local municipal band. I'm hoping that some of you, more knowledgeable than I, can let me know what it is.
It appears to say F(?) Barbier, Paris. Having researched that here on the BB I can see that it was bought out by Selmer around 1905 and made student instruments. Additional pics of Barbier clarinets that I've located show a pretty basic instrument.
What I have here is a single-body, wood clarinet with a LH Eb/Ab lever and a RH low Eb.

This doesn't look like a student model. Must be made before the name was used for Selmer's student line.

It's a full Boehm, so it has the forked Eb/Bb mechanism where you can play Eb/Bb as xox|ooo which makes playing in sharp/flat keys easier instead of having to use the side key, articulated C#/G# so you can do B-C# and F#-G# trills as well as the extra C#/G# touchpiece for RH2 for C-Db, G-Ab and alt. E-F trills, LH Ab/Eb lever so you can slur low Eb-Ab (amongst other things made easier with the LH Ab/Eb lever) and the low Eb doubles as a mid stave Bb.

Chris -- do you have any idea of the reputation or quality of this horn? It doesn't have a barrel or bell, so I haven't tried playing it.

There are similarities with my Buffet full Boehm from 1912 but some pad cups and key parts are slightly larger on this one. There are other minor differences such as the locaton of the key stop on the low Eb key. It must be a Barbier.
