In a plastic box.

(I can anticipate the shuddering and cries of horror now.)

In the individual reed cases that they came in.

I don't think there is any harm in storing Legere plastic reeds in an old plastic reed case where they seem to be a loose fit. To make sure there are no growths of bad bacteria or fungus, I wipe them dry before storing and the boxes all have little air holes I melted in them to make sure there is circulation. When you give up on cane and go synthetic, suddenly a lot of your worries are eliminated. I always have a good reed of predictable strength and performance, and I don't need to carry more than a couple with me at any time. I don't need special reed cases or worries about warping or drying out. Twenty bucks for a single reed lasts me many months, (some up to a half year of daily use in rotation).

The active reeds on those rico reedguards that hold four reeds. The others in original packaging.

I store my reeds on a microscope slide
the reed is held in place with a rubber band
and I store the slides in a microscope slide box
I got the idea from David Pino's Book "The Clarinet and Clarinet playing"
works great

A Selmer reed keeper where the reeds lie flat on slanted glass.

FWIW, my students found out that Legere reeds can be damaged in the Rico reed holders if shoved in too far.

BobW: I assume you have invested in slides with beveled edges to protect the rubber bands. Sounds like a good idea if you have access to the materials. Since those slides tend to be thicker, are you having to use two or three slots per slide/reed?

BartHx:

I just use regular microscope slides
the edges are not sharp and have not damaged the rubber bands
I use size 8 (7/8" x 1/16") rubber bands

I purchased my slide boxes from Globe Scientific

I have the 12 slide box and can fit 6 reeds in it
it fits into my Protec Pro Pac case with no problem

I go back and forth between storing the reeds in a Rico case or in the Vandoren reed guards they came in... but, I always keep them in a ziplock bag with a humidifier. Helps guard against the crazy climate changes that happen daily here in Central Illinois! ;)
