Are Amati Kraslise Model good models? I found a really nice one, but I have a Selmer Special right now and is it a step up from that? It has a low Eb and the other kind of G#...

Here's second-hand info, for what it's worth: Amati Kraslise clarinets make great lamps. I know those extra keys are tempting, but how is the intonation of the instrument throughout the range? Your Signet Special might do better in that regard...

Hey,

AMATI clarinets are good instruments. The old ones (pre 1998, even pre 1999) are terrible. They make better kindling than lamps (I would recommend removing the keys, corks etc before burning < just kidding >)

The new instruments are very different. IN 1998 they were bought out by Denak. The factories were retrofitted, and all the models were either redesigned or replaced, and they are still phasing out many models that were redesigned.

They have always had the manpower and skill, but didn't always have the money or technology. When they were under soviet rule they had to give a large sum of profits to the Gov. so they couldn't do much. Then they were a state enterprise etc and eventually were purchased by Denak etc etc etc, im sure you’re tired of hearing their sob stories.

Anyway, their professional grade clarinets (ACL 601II-0, ACL 604II-0, etc basically any 600 #) are made by hand by a small group of craftsmen.

They are of really good quality.

You need to have a good repair techs set it up; they don't ship them very well.

I would only consider the AMATI if it were a new clarinet.

The keys are made out of Nickel silver and bronze, and aren't as hard as a Selmer or Buffet.

Its say its a professional European Clarinet. The one is a Amati Kraslise Model ACL-605. The keys are Silver-Plated not nickel, undercut tone holes, bore .575, 2 barrels (64mm and 62mm). Does that sound good?

Sounds like a new horn.

They arent like a Leblanc Concerto, or one of the good R-13's. but they are VERY nice instruments, especially for the price.
you might need to take it to a repair tech to have it set up well.

Being a European horn you might want to find out what pitch it is (I guess that is what you would call it). A440 is the norm. I don't know if it is the same in Europe.

A 442 i belive, thats what they seem to be to me, but if it has the extra barrel than maybe not. Also, the right mouthpiece brings the pitch down.

I think... why?

Is a Leblanc/Noblet SYMPHONIE 3 better than a Selmer Special?
